New Bedford Hurricane Barrier

Local’s take

A giant wall that keeps the ocean out. Show some respect.

Built in the 1960s, the hurricane barrier protects the harbor and the city from storm surge. It’s one of the defining sights of the harbor, and you can walk along the top of it on the Harbor Walk.
